Support El Dorado Sheriff Search and Rescue
Attend the Crab Feed January 12, 2007
Dr Fudge is a member of El Dorado SAR as a Ground Search team member, EMS-First Responder, and veterinary "first responder" for search dogs injured during a search. He is also learning to support search management in computer mapping, APRS (ham radio-GPS position reporting transmission) and command post radio communications.
In 2008, Dr. Fudge will be training on the Cliff/High Angle Rescue Team as a supporting member, staying on top of the cliff, while the more intrepid (younger folks) go over the edge on ropes.
All El Dorado Search and Rescue members must take and renew classes in:
CPR for Health Care Providers, First Aid (or alternately First Responder/EMT) Critical Incidence Stress; Aircraft safety; Crime Scene Preservation; Land Navigation; Mantracking; Radio Procedures; Search Theory; Wilderness Survival.
Specialty teams take additional courses. Seventy five percent of membership holds ham radio licenses, as special ham and Sheriff frequencies are regularly used for training and searches. Training exercises are scheduled monthly.
